Yes. Gorilla permits are in high demand and must be secured in advance. We require a deposit to reserve permits with Uganda Wildlife Authority or Rwanda Development Board on your behalf. The deposit amount depends on your travel dates and group size — we’ll confirm all payment details once we check availability.
We provide full pre-departure visa guidance for all our destinations. Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya offer an East African Tourist Visa ($100, single permit covering all three). Tanzania uses a separate visa on arrival. Botswana is visa-free for most nationalities. We send a full visa checklist with every confirmed booking.
The minimum age for gorilla trekking in both Uganda and Rwanda is 15 years old. There is no upper age limit. Porters are available at trek start points to assist those who need support on the trail.
