Linyanti Wildlife Reserve
Botswana’s most exclusive private reserve. Dense leopard population. Wild dogs. Enormous elephant herds at the Linyanti River. Almost no other tourists on any game drive.
Dense Leopard, Wild Dogs, and Almost No Other Tourists
The Linyanti Wildlife Reserve is one of Botswana’s most exclusive private wildlife concessions — a 500km² wilderness bordering Chobe National Park along the Linyanti River that delivers comparable wildlife to Chobe’s famous riverfront with a fraction of the vehicle numbers. Most game drives here are shared with no other tourists at all.
The Linyanti is famous above all for leopard — the dense riverine woodland along the Linyanti and Savuti Channel supports a remarkably high leopard density, with well-known individual animals reliably encountered by the experienced guides of the reserve’s small private camps. Wild dog packs range through the territory regularly, and the elephant concentrations at the river rival those of Chobe’s main section.
Apes & Wildlife Safaris builds complete northern Botswana circuits combining Linyanti with Chobe and the Okavango Delta.
Includes all meals, activities, park fees, night drives, and walking safaris. Fly-in from Kasane or Maun required. All through Apes & Wildlife Safaris.
Accessible only by fly-in. Private camps host 8–16 guests maximum — genuine exclusivity on all activities. Night drives and walking safaris included and unavailable in adjacent Chobe National Park.
Wildlife & Natural Highlights
Leopard
Dense riverine woodland supports high leopard density — individual animals known to guides by name. Dawn and dusk drives consistently produce close, extended sightings.
Wild Dogs
Multiple pack territories range through the Linyanti concession. Pack sightings including morning hunts are among the reserve’s most celebrated wildlife events.
Elephants at the River
Linyanti’s elephant concentrations rival Chobe’s main riverfront in dry season — with near-total absence of other vehicles creating incomparably intimate encounters.
Lions
Large prides patrol extensive territories. Night drives and morning hunts deliver predator encounters unavailable in the adjacent national park.
Night Game Drives
Included in all Linyanti camp programmes — revealing leopard, spotted hyena, large-spotted genet, and African wildcat that daytime drives miss entirely.
Walking Safaris
Expert-guided walks in true wilderness — a completely different dimension to the wildlife experience unavailable inside adjacent Chobe National Park.

Never Miss the Dawn Drive
The first two hours after sunrise deliver the highest predator activity, best photography light, and most concentrated wildlife encounters. Always prioritise the early start.
Trust Your Expert Guide
The best wildlife encounters come from guides who read animal behaviour and position the vehicle ahead of the action. Apes & Wildlife Safaris works only with experienced, park-specialist guides.
Combine with Other Botswana Parks
Botswana’s parks are most rewarding in combination. Ask Apes & Wildlife Safaris about the ideal circuit — Chobe, the Okavango Delta, and the Central Kalahari together deliver Africa’s most complete safari.
