Fly by private charter into the Central Serengeti and check into the Four Seasons Safari Lodge — perhaps Africa’s most striking architectural marvel overlooking a natural waterhole. Game drives in the Serengeti’s private conservancy areas add walking safaris and night drives for a 360-degree wildlife experience.
Balloon Sunrise Safari → Departure
Rise before dawn for a Serengeti hot air balloon — drift silently over the golden plains as sun rises over thousands of wildebeest below. Champagne bush breakfast then charter flight back to Arusha/Kilimanjaro for international departure.

7-Day Western Tanzania — Gombe, Mahale & Lake Tanganyika
Follow in Jane Goodall’s footsteps at Gombe Stream — the world’s most famous chimpanzee research site — then trek to the extraordinary Mahale Mountains where 1,000 wild chimpanzees roam one of Africa’s most remote and beautiful national parks above Lake Tanganyika.
- Gombe chimp trekking
- Jane Goodall research site
- Mahale Mountains chimps
- Lake Tanganyika snorkelling
- Remote fly-in bush camps
- Swimming in Tanganyika
Dar es Salaam → Gombe Stream NP
Fly to Kigoma on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, then take a boat to Gombe Stream — the park where Jane Goodall began her revolutionary chimpanzee research in 1960. Trek through forest and stream valleys to encounter chimpanzees that are entirely habituated to human presence.
Mahale Mountains NP — The Ultimate Chimp Trek
Boat 8 hours south along Lake Tanganyika to Mahale Mountains — completely inaccessible by road and accessible only by boat or charter. Home to Tanzania’s largest population of habituated chimpanzees, the Mahale jungle rises from Tanganyika’s crystal-clear shores to forested mountain peaks. Trek to observe the famous M Group chimps then swim in the world’s second-deepest freshwater lake — warm, crystal-clear, and full of cichlid fish.

7-Day Botswana Classic — Okavango Delta & Chobe
Botswana’s iconic duo — glide silently through the Okavango Delta’s papyrus channels by mokoro canoe, then witness Chobe’s legendary elephant herds, the largest concentration on Earth, on game drives and sunset river cruises.
- Okavango Delta mokoro safari
- Chobe elephant herds
- Chobe River sunset cruise
- Walking safaris (Okavango)
- Private island camp stay
- Big Five game drives
Maun → Okavango Delta (Fly-in)
Fly from Maun by light aircraft into the heart of the Okavango Delta — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Africa’s largest inland delta. Glide silently through channels in a mokoro (dugout canoe) poled by expert Bushmen guides, walk on remote islands to track wildlife on foot, and spot hippos, crocodiles, elephant, lion, and leopard in a pristine water wilderness that receives fewer than 60,000 visitors per year.
Chobe National Park
Fly to Kasane gateway for Chobe NP — home to 120,000 elephants, the world’s largest concentration. Game drives in the Chobe riverfront deliver enormous herds of elephant, buffalo, hippo, sable, and roan alongside lion and leopard. The sunset river cruise — with hundreds of elephants swimming across the Chobe River before your eyes — is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife experiences.

10-Day Botswana Wilderness — Kalahari, Makgadikgadi & Delta
Botswana’s three extraordinary wilderness ecosystems — the vast Central Kalahari Desert, the alien salt pans of Makgadikgadi, and the lush waterways of the Okavango Delta — deliver three completely different Botswana experiences in one magnificent trip.
- Central Kalahari lions
- Makgadikgadi salt pans
- Meerkats at sunrise
- Zebra migration (seasonal)
- Okavango Delta mokoro
- Walking with Bushmen
Gaborone → Central Kalahari Game Reserve
The Central Kalahari GR is one of the world’s largest game reserves — a vast fossil-river valley wilderness of endless grass and ancient dunes. Lions here are adapted to drinking no water for months; gemsbok, springbok, and blue wildebeest roam vast open spaces under enormous skies. Fly or drive in to a remote camp.
Makgadikgadi Pans — Salt & Stars
The Makgadikgadi Pans — ancient dried lake beds stretching 12,000km² — are one of Earth’s most extraordinary landscapes. At night the stars blaze in absolute darkness; at dawn meerkats emerge from their burrows for sunrise (a standout wildlife moment). In the rains (Nov-April), one million zebra migrate across the pans in Africa’s second-largest migration after the Serengeti.
Okavango Delta — Water, Wildlife & Wilderness
Fly to the Okavango for the perfect contrast — emerald channels, lily-covered lagoons, and extraordinary wildlife. Bush walks with San Bushman guides, mokoro safaris at dawn, and game drives in the private concessions where night drives are permitted.

5-Day Botswana Fly-In Luxury Safari — Ultimate Short Break
Botswana’s very best in five days — a seamlessly connected fly-in circuit between the finest private camps in the Okavango’s Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park. Maximum wildlife, maximum luxury, minimum transfers.

- Moremi Game Reserve access
- Chobe River elephant viewing
- All game activities included
- Charter flights between camps
- Fully inclusive (all meals & drinks)

Chobe National Park (Charter Transfer)
Fly directly to Kasane and Chobe riverfront. Two full days of morning game drives and afternoon Chobe River sunset cruises — both delivering Africa’s greatest elephant spectacle. A farewell dinner under the African night sky before flying home from Kasane.

8-Day Botswana Honeymoon Safari — Pure Romance in the Wild
Botswana is Africa’s most intimate safari destination — low visitor numbers, pristine wilderness, and extraordinary luxury combine to create the world’s most romantic safari. The perfect honeymoon for couples who want wildlife and wilderness without crowds.

- Candlelit bush dinners
- Romantic mokoro at dawn
- Couples massage in the bush

Chobe Riverfront — Sunset & Elephant Sundowners
Charter to an exclusive Chobe riverside lodge for four days of morning game drives with elephants crossing the river, afternoon sundowner cruises with cold champagne, and private dinners on your deck overlooking the Chobe floodplain. Botswana at its most romantic and refined.

Chobe National Park
Charter to Chobe for four days of river and game drive safari with the world’s most accessible elephant population. Watch 500-strong elephant herds swim the Chobe River at sunset — one of Africa’s greatest wildlife scenes.
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Drive or fly to Victoria Falls — the world’s largest waterfall and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the rainforest path through perpetual spray, take a Zambezi sunset cruise, raft the Grade 5 rapids below the falls, and visit the markets of Victoria Falls town before flying home.

6-Day Botswana Budget-Friendly Safari — Chobe & Nata Pans
Experience Botswana’s spectacular wildlife without the luxury price tag — Chobe’s famous elephant herds and the flamingo-covered Nata Bird Sanctuary offer world-class wildlife watching at an accessible budget, making Botswana achievable for more travellers.
- Chobe National Park access
- Nata flamingo sanctuary
- Chobe River boat cruise
- Budget lodge accommodation

Kasane → Chobe National Park
Arrive Kasane and head straight to Chobe. Two full days of morning and evening game drives in the Chobe riverfront — the world’s most accessible elephant viewing — combined with an affordable sunset boat cruise watching hundreds of elephants drink and swim.
Nata → Makgadikgadi Pans Edge
Drive south to Nata Bird Sanctuary — Botswana’s most accessible flamingo viewing spot on the edge of the vast Makgadikgadi Pans. Flamingo numbers peak after rains but the pans are spectacular year-round. Meerkat habituated groups can be visited at nearby Jack’s Camp.
Return to Kasane / Maun Depart

Kenya is synonymous with the word “safari” — and rightfully so. The Maasai Mara National Reserve hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration from July to October, when over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras thunder across the Mara River in one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Amboseli National Park offers postcard views of Kilimanjaro with Africa’s largest elephant herds roaming in the foreground. Samburu in the north shelters unique northern species — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich. Tanzania is the jewel in Africa’s safari crown. The Serengeti National Park covers 14,763 km² of ancient grasslands where the Great Migration — the largest animal movement on Earth — plays out year-round in a never-ending cycle of life and death. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is often called “the Garden of Eden” — a collapsed volcanic caldera sheltering one of the densest concentrations of wildlife anywhere on the planet, including the endangered black rhino. Tarangire’s baobab-studded plains hold Tanzania’s largest elephant herds. The Southern Circuit — Nyerere and Ruaha — offers truly wild, crowd-free game viewing. Rwanda has transformed into one of Africa’s premier travel destinations — clean, safe, and extraordinarily biodiverse. Volcanoes National Park in the Virunga Mountains is Rwanda’s crown jewel, hosting mountain gorilla families in misty Afro-montane forests at altitudes above 2,500m. The park also shelters the endangered golden monkey. Akagera National Park on the eastern border hosts the Big Five — including a successful black rhino reintroduction programme — across savanna and lakes. Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Central Africa’s largest mountain rainforests, home to chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and exceptional canopy walks above the forest floor. Rwanda’s extraordinary conservation success story makes every safari visit a contribution to wildlife protection.

Botswana stands apart from every other African safari destination — here, conservation has absolute priority over mass tourism. The result is Africa’s most pristine, crowd-free wilderness experience. The Okavango Delta — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is the world’s largest inland delta, where the Okavango River fans into a labyrinth of channels, islands, and floodplains creating a paradise for wildlife and birdlife. Chobe National Park along the Chobe River holds Africa’s largest elephant concentration — over 130,000 elephants. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the world’s largest nature reserves, sheltering lions, brown hyenas, meerkats, and the famous black-maned Kalahari lion. Botswana’s high-value, low-volume tourism philosophy means you’ll share game drives with very few other vehicles.

The Complete Africa Safari Guide – Everything You Need to Know
Best Time to Go on an Africa Safari
The best time for an Africa safari depends heavily on your destination. Kenya and Tanzania’s northern circuit safari season peaks July–October when the Great Wildebeest Migration crosses the Mara River and the dry season keeps vegetation low for excellent game viewing. Uganda and Rwanda offer excellent gorilla trekking year-round, with June–September and December–February being the best dry seasons for trekking the misty mountain forests of Bwindi and the Virungas.
Uganda Gorilla Trekking – The World’s Best Wildlife Encounter
Mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is consistently rated among the world’s top wildlife experiences. Uganda is home to approximately half the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population — around 460 individuals — all habituated for trekking in Bwindi and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks. Uganda gorilla permits cost $800 per person per trek, and trekking is strictly limited to one hour with each gorilla family once located.
Kenya’s Maasai Mara – The Great Migration Explained
The Great Wildebeest Migration is the largest mammal migration on Earth, involving over 1.5 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebras, and 200,000 gazelles circling continuously between Tanzania’s Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara in a life-and-death seasonal cycle dictated by rainfall and grass growth. The famous Mara River crossings — when thousands of wildebeest plunge into crocodile-filled waters — happen most dramatically from July to October in the Maasai Mara, making this Kenya’s peak safari season.
Tanzania’s Serengeti – Africa’s Most Famous National Park
Serengeti National Park covers 14,763 km² of ancient East African grassland in northern Tanzania, and is arguably the most famous national park on the continent. The Serengeti has the densest concentration of large mammals in Africa — including the Big Five — and hosts the wildebeest migration year-round as the herds rotate through the ecosystem. The Southern Serengeti’s calving season (January–March) sees thousands of wildebeest calves born simultaneously, attracting massive lion and cheetah concentrations.
Botswana’s Okavango Delta – Africa’s Watery Wilderness
The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta — a 15,000 km² labyrinth of permanent and seasonal channels, papyrus swamps, and palm-fringed islands in the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Fed by Angola’s Cubango River, the Okavango’s floodwaters arrive in Botswana between March and June, pushing wildlife onto elevated islands where game concentrations become extraordinary. A mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) safari through the Delta’s lily-covered channels is an experience unlike any other in Africa.
Rwanda Gorilla Trekking – Africa’s Luxury Primate Safari
Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park offers one of Africa’s most exclusive wildlife encounters — mountain gorilla trekking at altitudes of 2,500–4,500m in the Virunga volcanic mountains. Rwanda gorilla permits cost $1,500 per person, making it the most expensive gorilla trekking destination but also the most accessible — Kigali International Airport is just 2–3 hours from the park. Rwanda’s investment in gorilla conservation has seen the mountain gorilla population increase from around 250 individuals in 1981 to over 1,000 today.
Zanzibar – The Perfect Safari & Beach Combination
Zanzibar offers the perfect end to any Tanzania mainland safari — a short 20-minute flight from Dar es Salaam or Arusha brings you from the bush to the beach. Zanzibar’s Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its spice farms produce the world’s finest cloves and cinnamon, and its coral reefs host manta rays, whale sharks, sea turtles, and colourful reef fish. Nungwi in the north, Kendwa, and Paje on the east coast are Zanzibar’s most popular beach destinations.
Africa Safari Costs – What to Budget
Africa safari costs vary enormously by country, season, accommodation level, and duration. Budget Uganda gorilla safaris start from around $1,200 per person for 3 days including the gorilla permit. Mid-range Tanzania northern circuit safaris typically cost $2,500–$4,500 per person for 7 days. Luxury Botswana fly-in safaris can cost $7,000–$15,000 per person per week due to the country’s exclusive, low-volume tourism model. Kenya safaris offer the widest price range, from budget camping in the Maasai Mara to ultra-luxury Mara conservancy camps charging $2,000+ per person per night.
Africa Safari Packing List & What to Wear
Neutral, earth-toned clothing is essential on any Africa safari — khaki, green, beige, and olive colours blend with the bush and avoid disturbing wildlife during game drives. A wide-brimmed hat, quality sunscreen, insect repellent, and a warm fleece or jacket for early morning game drives are essential year-round. For gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda, long-sleeved clothing and sturdy waterproof boots are recommended as forest vegetation can be dense and the terrain steep.
Africa Safari Visa Requirements for International Visitors
Visa requirements vary by nationality across Africa’s safari countries. Uganda offers visa on arrival and an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) for most nationalities. Kenya also offers an eTa system for most nationalities. Tanzania requires most visitors to obtain a visa in advance or on arrival. Rwanda operates a visa on arrival policy at Kigali Airport for most nationalities. Botswana allows citizens of most Commonwealth countries, EU nations, and the USA to enter visa-free for 30–90 days. We advise all guests to verify current visa requirements with their country’s relevant embassy before travel.
